The American Interest accepts unsolicited manuscripts for review from all quarters. Please note, however, that we strictly solicit all of our review essays. We typically respond to submissions within two weeks.
Aspiring writers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with both the style and substance of the articles in our pages. Essays may be of any length appropriate to the subject matter up to 6,000 words. We pay our authors an honorarium commensurate with the length and quality of the published piece. Please note that we do not consider essays that have been submitted simultaneously at any other publication.
Articles can be submitted in electronic format or hard copy, and should be typed in double space. Emailed submissions should be sent as attachments either via the contact form on our web site, or directly to the attention of the executive editor at ai@the-american-interest.com.
